Connecting businesses with local talent
Broadgate Connect is British Land’s employment and training partnership with charity ELBA, which connects Broadgate businesses with local talent.
It has been helping East Londoners gain fulfilling jobs and apprenticeships in and around Broadgate since 2012, enabling diverse local hiring for our campus customers and suppliers.
This report reflects on how ten years of cross-sectoral collaboration has created positive impact for the local economy, community and British Land customers – and what this means looking forward.
Our impact in numbers
economic value
to the UK economy through upskilling and getting jobseekers into employment
social value
by Broadgate Connect helping people move into employment and gain new skills
fiscal value
through financial savings or income to the Exchequer, including reduced welfare payments or increased tax revenue
total return on investment1
For every £1 invested, Broadgate Connect generated £39 of economic, social and fiscal value
1 Based on a blended return of investment derived by combining the economic, social and fiscal values and dividing this value by total input costs. This is an indicative figure.
The beauty of the Broadgate Connect model is that it's both locally tailored and replicable; a transferable framework for inclusive growth. We hope that the evidence in this report encourages greater cross-sector collaboration to drive inclusive economic growth across the UK.

I hope that London’s businesses can look to this model and see that investing in skills and wraparound employment support will provide benefits to them, as well as adding significant value to the economy.
